When to use bypass capacitors

Tuesday, August 28th, 2007

I found an interesting article about why bypass capacitors are needed, how they work and when to use them.

test1

Bypass capacitors filter out noise from your circuit. It will help to provide a stable voltage to your IC’s.

The conclusion is that you can use them as much as you want.
It is recommended to use a bypass capacitor before every IC. The most common used value is 100nF.

If you are using high frequencies you will need some more sophisticated solutions. This is an article that provides solutions for higher frequencies.
